The

Yearbook
Dedication

Presented to IVIr. Slierr on Class Day

by Bele Wariboko on beiiajf of the Class of 2012

Many of us at one point in our high school careers have heard the social studies teachers joke amongst
themselves about each other. I'm sure we have all heard Mr. Sherr referring to how ancient some of our
teachers are. This was how I first came to know about Mr. Sherr. First he was a teacher I just heard about who
likes to tell jokes, and then he became that teacher who I occasionally saw around the school, who nine times
out often had a smile on his face. Then he coached a team I was on. And then I was fortunate to have Mr.
Sherr as a teacher. He made the classroom an interesting place to be. His influence and presence in WHS as a
teacher, as a coach, and most importantly, adviser to this year's senior class has impacted many students.

Mr. Sherr began his career at WHS as a social studies teacher in 2004. Shelly Walsh says, "He always creates
a fun, interesting learning environment. The discussions in his class are not lectures, but everyone bouncing
ideas off of each other. He is always so encouraging and kind. Every one of his students can tell that he
genuinely loves teaching."

Senior year is one of the most stressful years a student has to endure. Throughout the year we worry about
college, scholarships, extra curriculars, and AP classes. Mr. Sherr's class was one I never felt stressed to attend
or frustrated by the material. He just made everything that easy to understand, which is a relief to any senior.
Ryan \c\ illc said, "He is a very good teacher who involves every student in his lessons which are easy to follow
and learn from." Dan Feldman agrees, "He is a wonderful teacher who takes pride in teaching and works with
his students to make sure they understand." Kate Vanassc said, "His class was one of the highlights of all four
years at WHS. He managed to engage nearly every student and wanted everybody to succeed."

It's clear his dedication stems from his love of teaching. Kristina Saliba says, "He comes into class every day
enthusiastic and always with a sense of humor. He's sincere in all he does and cares about every one of his
students. He's made me laugh more times that I can count and I'm so glad I got to have him as a teacher." As
we recognize Mr. Sherr today, it is clear that being a teacher here at WHS is not just a job.

His love for it is reflected in his actions every day. Valentina Wigozki says, "I don't think I've ever seen him
without a smile; you can't help but be in a good mood when you're with him."

Beyond his work in the classroom, Mr. Sherr's
influence has made sure our senior year would be
memorable. Caitie ReilK: "On top of being a
fantastic teacher, he has been an incredible
organizer/manager/supporter of this year's senior
class. Working with our class officers he has helped
so much in making our tlnal year, a very memorable
one. Besides, he is one of the kindest teachers I
know!"

His reach into the WHS community does not
stop there, as students who have not had him as a
teacher know. C'Acn Domnan was fortunate in this
respect: "He was my JV basketball coach and even
though I've never had him as a teacher he always
takes time to say hi and ask how my day is." Molly
O'Brien: "He is very dedicated to all students but
especially the senior class. His kind and caring
personality shines through in all he does from
freshman history to AP psychology to softball. If
anybody deserves this dedication it's him. He keeps
his classes interesting and his students engaged. He
gave us a great senior year!"

Many senior here today believe Mr. Sherr
deserves recognition, like Annie Husied: "You have
been a great contributor to our graduating class, as
well as a wonderful teacher and a lot of fun." R\an
McNult\ : "You have been encouraging of our
senior class. And you tell the best jokes ever." So.
on behalf of this year's senior class we want to
recognize your contributions to us, your funny
jokes, and your all around awesomeness by
dedicating this year's yearbook to you. We sincerely
thank you.

Visual and Performing Arts Depts. hosted this annual festival with artmaking,
performances and exhibits. Corridors were transformed into galleries, guests
could have creative photo portraits made, and over $1000 was raised for th
Greater Boston Food Bank. Chorus, Orchestra, Band, Passing
Notes and Tri-M performed brilliantly. i

"In this dream play everything can happen, everything is possible and probable, nme artcrpia^^MBrexist; on an
insignificant basis of reality the imagination spins, weaving new patterns; a mixture of memorSiPJeriences, free
fancies, incongruities and improvisations. But one consciousness rules over them all, that of the dreamer; for her there
are no secrets, no illogicalities, no scruples, no laws. She neither acquits nor condemns, but merely relates; and, just
as a dream is more often painful than happy, so an undertone of melancholy and of pity for all mortal beings
accompanies this flickering tale." August Strindberg, playwright.

Set in New York City, this oddball romantic comedy soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters: Sarah
Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who
woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's
een engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiance, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous
floating crap game. Everything worked out in the end, thanks to the hilarious, fast-paced book and a brassy, immortal score, which took us
from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and

affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure

the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;

to leave the world a bit better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or

a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier

because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
